Born on August 11, 1944, in Shreveport, LA, Willie was a man whose warmth and jovial spirit left an indelible mark on all who knew him. Willie proudly served his country as a United States Marine, a testament to his dedication and resilience. After his military service, he applied his disciplined work ethic to a successful career as a diesel mechanic. Willie's passion for the outdoors led him to become a well-respected fishing guide, sharing his love for nature with others and teaching them the patience and skill of the sport. Willie's interests were as deep as the waters he navigated. He was an avid hunter who respected the earth and its creatures. His love for fishing was only matched by his love for cooking, often preparing generous meals that brought people together. His garden was a place of tranquility, where he cultivated not just plants, but also joy and peace. Willie's legacy is carried on by his loving family. He is survived by his brother, James Mills, and sister, Ann Byrum. His children, Justin Mills, Jason Mills, Lindsey Mills, and his bonus daughter, Katelyn Bowers, will forever cherish the memories they shared. His daughter-in-law, Brittany Mills, held a special place in his heart. Willie's grandchildren Jackson, Morgan, Jayden, Oakley, Rhett, and Hadley will remember their grandfather as a playful and gentle soul who could fix anything with his handy skills. Those who knew Willie would describe him as loving, funny, and handy. His laughter was infectious, and his ability to find humor in life's challenges was a gift to all.
