Virgil McAfee passed away peacefully on April 25, 2025, at the age of 85, due to congestive heart failure. Born on April 3, 1940, in Sherman, Texas, Virgil was a man whose adventurous spirit and friendly demeanor touched the lives of all who knew him.

Virgil was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Janice McAfee, his father, Cecil McAfee, his mother, Alta Fordham McAfee, and his brother, Harold McAfee. He is survived by his brother, AC McAfee and his wife Elaine, his sister, Patsy Wallace and her husband Gregg, his daughter, Laura McCrary and her husband Jason, his grandson, Tyler McCrary and numerous nieces and nephews.

Virgil was a 1958 graduate of Sherman High School. His sense of duty led him to serve his country as a veteran of the Army. His commitment to safety and excellence defined his career as a UL Inspector and later as a Safety Inspector for AT&T. Virgil's work ethic and dedication to his profession were unmatched, and he was highly respected by his peers.

Virgil's interests were as vast as the Texas sky he so loved to fly. An accomplished pilot of airplanes and helicopters, he found joy and freedom in the skies. Virgil's legacy also includes his generosity, as he devoted time to finding and donating military items to army museums, ensuring that the history he was so proud of would be preserved for future generations.

Those who knew Virgil would describe him as a kid at heart and a man of adventure and friendliness, always ready with a helping hand or a kind word. His ability to fix almost anything earned him the title of "go-to guy" among his family and friends. Virgil's presence was a source of help and calm, and his absence will be deeply felt by all who knew him.

As we bid farewell to Virgil McAfee, we celebrate a life lived with purpose and joy. His spirit of adventure, his commitment to his family and country, and his enduring friendliness will remain as guiding lights to all who were part of his journey. Virgil's story does not end here; it continues in the memories of those he loved and the lasting impact he made on the world around him.
