Vickie Dorene Redden, 63, of White Oak, Texas passed away on December 18, 2020, due to complications from Covid-19. Vickie loved the Lord and did not fear death. While we are saddened for the loss of Vickie here on earth, we know that she is rejoicing in heaven with her family that has gone before her and that provides us with a peace and comfort that only Christ can provide.
Vickie Dorene Evans was born in Portsmouth, Ohio on October 11, 1957, to Alma Darlene Evans (Halley) and Paul Bernard Evans, Sr. She was a graduate of the 1976 class of Minford High School. After the closures of the steel mills in Ohio, Vickie moved with her family in 1980, settling in Longview, Texas. Vickie excelled at many jobs throughout her life: cashier and manager of both Charter Marketing and EZ-Mart convenience stores, secretary at Boorman Properties real estate office, and office secretary at ABC Auto Parts.
Vickie spent most of her life ministering to children, whether at church on Wednesdays or Sundays, or VBS. She loved it all. She also loved to sing in the church choir and write and perform puppet shows. Over the last several years, Vickie loved being a substitute teacher for White Oak ISD at both the middle school and high school. The students loved her, too! They always wanted Ms. Redden to be their sub. Vickie was such a kind, loving, and compassionate role model, and she would do anything for anyone if she could.
Vickie loved her children and her grandchildren with all her heart. They meant the world to her, whether it was hanging out at the house, family occasions, or competitions, she always wanted to be a part of it all.
Vickie was preceded in death by both her parents and brother, Paul Bernard Evans, Jr. She leaves behind her children: daughter, Stacy Shellhorse and son-in-law Scott Shellhorse; son, Wayne Redden. She will also be dearly missed by her grandchildren: Gracie Shellhorse, Benjy Shellhorse, Rylie Redden, and Ryan Redden.
In addition, she leaves behind her brother, Charles Evans of Valley View, and many nieces and nephews: Faith Evans, Carter Evans, Gracelyn Evans, Brighton Evans, Blanton Evans, Bella Evans, Deacon Evans, Amy Ratcliff, Ryan Evans, and Eric Evans.
The loss of Vickie Redden was unexpected for everyone that loved her dearly. Her children were not prepared for the loss of their mother. Her grandchildren and most of her family and friends who loved her dearly did not have the opportunity to say goodbye.
A memorial service is planned for 11 AM on Saturday, January 9, 2021, at White Oak Community Church in White Oak, Texas
