On Tuesday December 26, 2023 a loud choral of song erupted from the angels as they welcomed the reunion of Thomas Jefferson Huff with his beloved Doris Craver Huff. If asked how he felt upon arrival he surely answered with his patented response of "it's just another day in Paradise" followed with his expected chuckle.
Tom was born in McComb, MS to Clem and Alma Huff. He was raised in Marshall, TX with six brothers and sisters. He only completed the sixth grade level when he dropped out. Can you believe they said to leave when he refused to shave? Regardless of that, he was very successful in life. He dedicated himself to four years of military service in the United States Air Force. He learned love of country and honor from that time. He participated in Veterans events for over 70 years. He was especially honored to attend a Presidential inauguration. He carried those same principles into his association of Freemasonry, Little Cypress chapter, Harleton, Texas.
In 1956 he married the absolute love of his life, Doris Craver. Together they worked 64 years to achieve success in businesses including a grocery store, Dallas auto dealerships, furniture stores, and a gun shop. Their final business was nearly 50 years in the making, the Apollo Delivery and Wrecker Service. Once they could manage some free time, they enjoyed traveling with her brother Z.T. Craver and his wife Lida.
Tom experienced great pleasure from working the land as a rancher managing his cattle and horses. He even took pride working when 2:00 a.m. storms blew down the fences, resulting in dozens of cows scattered along Farm Road 552 in Rockwall. His work ethic was always "do" and to leave no job unfinished. He loved being outdoors and he was always happy to be on a boat fishing with his grandson.
Left to cherish Tom's memory are his sons; Eric (Arlene) Huff and Christopher (Alayna) Huff, including his grandchildren Jordan, Megan, Hannah and Bryson. He also will live on in the hearts of his many nieces and nephews and their children. Truly a man of the ages.
Tom was loving and generous. He literally would give the needy the shirt off his back. He enjoyed bar-b-que, meeting for breakfast and sweets especially pound cake. He left us with a sparkle in his eyes and smile upon his face with love shining to all.
