Susan Malloy Life Story

Susan Elizabeth Hellman Malloy, "Susie" affectionately known as Maverick Momma Susie, passed away peacefully on January 23, 2025, in Longview, Texas. Born on New Year's Eve in 1957, in Kansas City, Missouri, Susie's vibrant spirit and unwavering warmth touched the lives of all who knew her. Susie's journey began in the heartland of America, where her youthful exuberance and joy for life were nurtured. She carried the spirit of her hometown throughout her life, expressing a deep love for her roots and the Kansas City Chiefs. Her academic pursuits kept her in the city she cherished, where she found her calling as a special education teacher, touching the lives of countless students with her patience and dedication. In her personal life, Susie was blessed with a loving family. She shared 35 wonderful years with her devoted husband, Herb Malloy. Together, they raised two remarkable children, Shelby and Brett Malloy, and cherished the joy of watching their granddaughter, Evelyn Malloy, grow. Her sister, DeeDee Grantham, brother-in-law Wayne, nieces Cassie and her husband, Clint and Jana and her husband, Shawn, and their children Keara, Finn, Kale, and Miranda, and Evelyn's mother, Sarah all held a special place in her heart. Susie's Kansas City family, including the Garcia family, her close friend, Wanda Propes, numerous other family members, friends, and her adored fur babies, Boudreau, Emma, and Woobie, will remember her with love and affection. She is preceded in death by her mother, Bea Ferguson and two uncles, William Ferguson and Edwin Ferguson. Susie's career was diverse and impactful. She made a significant difference in the lives of preschoolers at Trinity Episcopal School in Marshall from 2002 to 2009. Her passion for education and nurturing young minds also shone through her years as a special education teacher in Kansas City. Later, she brought her leadership and caring nature to Kroger, where as a Floor Supervisor for the last 15 years, she was respected and admired by her colleagues. A woman of many interests and boundless energy, Susie was the ultimate PTA parent and an active participant in community life. Her love for Bunco was matched only by her enthusiasm for capturing moments at the events. She was an avid supporter of Night To Shine, Hope's Closet, her friends, and the Marshall Independent School District. But it was her unwavering dedication to the Marshall Mavericks that truly defined her. As Maverick Momma Susie, she was the heart and soul of the community, immortalizing every game, performance, and event with her camera. Her presence was a constant at athletic events, where she would be found, camera in hand, often "in the way" but always capturing the moments that mattered most. Her Facebook page is a testament to her legacy, showcasing the thousands of images that narrate the story of her beloved Maverick family. Susie's life was a mosaic of love, laughter, and the countless photographs she took. Each snapshot is a testament to her love for her community and the joy she found in celebrating the achievements of others. Her passion for life was infectious, and her impact on the Marshall Mavericks and everyone she met was profound. Maverick Momma Susie will be deeply missed, but her spirit will live on in the memories she captured and the lives she touched. As we say farewell to Susan Elizabeth Hellman Malloy, we celebrate a life beautifully lived and a woman who gave her heart to her family, her work, and her community. Her legacy of love, compassion, and enthusiasm for life will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her. Susie's bright light may have dimmed in the physical world, but it will forever shine in the hearts and memories of those she left behind. In true Maverick Momma Susie fashion, the family requests you dress in your favorite Maverick attire for the celebration of her life. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in her honor to help the family with expenses related to her illness and death. A Go Fund Me account has been set up as well as a bank account at Texas National Bank in Marshall, Texas.
