Sarah Sue Thomas, known affectionately as Sue to her friends and family, passed away peacefully on February 11, 2025, in Marshall, Texas. Born on September 20, 1942, in Kaufman, Texas, Sue's vibrant spirit and joyous heart touched the lives of all who knew her. Her life was marked by her dedication to her family, her passion for the outdoors, and her love for her community. As a skilled hairdresser, Sue spent many years bringing joy and beauty into the lives of her clients. Known for her feisty and fun-loving personality, she was the self-proclaimed "BOSS," always ready to take charge and ensure that everyone was well cared for. Sue's children, Linda Welch and her husband Steve, Bryan "Bubba" Thomas and his wife Kerrie, and Charles "Chuckie" Thomas, will hold dear the memories of their mother's unwavering love and guidance. Her grandchildren, Michael Welch and his wife Kristen, Brad Welch, B. J. Welch and his wife Jasmine, Krystin Williamson and her husband Ethan, and Heather Madrid and her husband Keith, will forever cherish the adventures and life lessons Sue shared with them. Her legacy continues to bloom through her great-grandchildren, Destiny, Mackenzie, Drake, Remington, Garret, Brooklynn, Carter, Brody, Holden, Korben, Emmett, and Blakelynn, who will grow up hearing tales of their great-grandmother's zest for life. Sue was preceded in death by her parents, John Carlile and Sadie Ann Cooper; her former husband, John Thomas; and her siblings, Faye, Annie, Berniece, Bobbie, Sammie, Buddy, Gene, Jerry, Tommy, Johnny Mac, and Elaine. Her departure has left a void in the hearts of those who loved her, but her memory will be a beacon of love and strength to her family. An avid lover of the great outdoors, Sue's enthusiasm for fishing and camping was infectious. She reveled in the simplicity and beauty of nature, finding peace and contentment by the water's edge. Her adventurous spirit led her on many excursions to the boats to gamble with her sisters-a cherished pastime that brought laughter and camaraderie into her life. In her younger days, Sue was known for her love of coon hunting, a testament to her spirited and resilient nature. Her presence was a source of comfort and joy to many, and she will be remembered for her generous heart and her ability to light up a room with her smile. As we bid farewell to Sarah Sue Thomas, we celebrate a life lived to the fullest. Her stories, her laughter, and her unwavering spirit will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her. Sue's journey through life was one of love, laughter, and an unshakable zest for adventure. Her memory will be cherished, her life celebrated, and her legacy honored by all who loved her.
