Steven Henley Life Story

Born April 27, 1948 Memphis, TN

Steven Henley went to be with our Savior on Wednesday, June 3, 2020. He is survived by daughter, Amy Henley Gonzales, sister, Diane Fletcher, and brother, Bruce Henley, along with many other family members.

Steve graduated from Longview High School and spent most of his life in Longview, TX.  Growing up, Steve was a member of Troop 201 Boy Scouts and Explorer Post. Steve gained a love for the outdoors, fishing, and camping through scouts and many family vacations at lakes and national parks.  He was a member of Oakland Heights Baptist Church and choir, filling his summers with choir trips and the annual trek to Falls Creek Camp in Oklahoma.

His favorite job, of many, was driving a big rig from the home base in NW Arkansas to destinations all over the U.S.. Steve was a gentle man who was pleased with simple things. He enjoyed time with his family, and it was even better if he had a fishing pole in his hand at the same time.

Steve’s greatest love on earth was his daughter Amy. She was certainly the light of his life, and she loved him.  His life was often hard at times; his health began to fail early in life and progressively got worse ultimately ending in a healing that took him away from us. As the Apostle Paul states, a believer absent from the body is present with Christ; we are confident that is where he resides now.

Steve always expressed his love for family and others and had a place in everyone’s heart.
