Stephen Edward Blavier, age 60, passed away at his home in Marshall, Texas on July 13, 2023. He was born on October 18, 1962 in Marshall, Texas to Donald Charles and Ardath Blavier. As a child, Stephen was a bright, happy, curious boy with loads of platinum cherubic curls and an adorable crooked grin - he always made sure that people knew his name was spelled with a 'ph' and not a 'v'. Stephen moved to College Station when he was 9 years old and considered it his hometown for the rest of his life. He graduated from A&M Consolidated High School and had a wide circle of friends. People who went to school with him anointed him 'Blavier the Saviour' as he was always willing and eager to help a friend in need. He remained a beloved member of the community that he grew up with there. He attended Texas A&M University, graduating with a Bachelor's in PE, minoring in Math & Science. While at A&M, he was an Undergraduate Assistant Division I University Football Coach, winning two Southwest Conference Championships in the Cotton Bowl and securing a lifetime membership in the Texas A&M Lettermen's Association. He went on to attend the University of Southern Mississippi, receiving a Master's in Administration and graduating Magna Cum Laude with a 4.0 GPA. He continued as a Graduate Assistant Coach at USM. After graduating from USM, Stephen went on to coach high school football and soccer and became a math teacher at several districts in Texas. His players and students alike loved him and often commented on the positive impact he made in their lives. Stephen loved inspiring the young people around him and seeing them after they graduated. Stephen became a father to Brenham Thomas Blavier on 28 September 1990. He loved his son dearly, calling him 'Buddy Bear'. Brenham would go to most of Stephen's games and was even able to do the coin toss for some of them. Brenham and Stephen had the same crazy curly hair and quirky, lopsided grins. Tragically, Brenham preceded his father in death. Stephen had a second career as a Lead Well Site Geologist, a position that took him around the world to places like Australia, Mauritania and many others. He loved the water and the time he spent out on it, whether at work on a rig, sitting on a boat or relaxing on a dock fishing pole in hand. Stephen loved cookbooks and recipes, collecting many family ones from his grandmother. He also loved gardening and had quite a green thumb growing herbs, tomatoes and many others. Stephen is survived by his parents, Rev. Dr. Donald Charles Blavier, Ardath and Larry Clifton; his siblings, Rhys M. Blavier (Chip), Sharon (Blavier) Hargrove, Laura Clifton and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins and many friends. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
