Sherry Smith Murry, 62, of Longview, Texas went to be with her Lord and Savior on September 30th, 2020 after a six month battle with pancreatic cancer. Sherry, also known as Grandma, was born on June 9, 1958, in Longview, Texas, to the late William Franklin Smith and Georgia Wisdom. Sherry grew up in southern Arkansas and east Texas where she graduated from Atlanta High School.
Sherry enjoyed her family and spending time with loved ones more than anything, besides maybe antiquing. She also loved cooking, arts and crafts, animals (especially horses), and the outdoors. Sherry loved collecting cookbooks and artwork. She also had a passion for gardening and her favorite time of the year was fall. She was caring, loving, and beyond brave. Her love for life was limitless. She was spunky, fun-loving, and a go-getter. But above all, she was an adoring wife, mother, sister, and Grandma who loved her family dearly.
Sherry was preceded in death by her parents, William Franklin Smith, Georgia Wisdom, and step-father, Charles Wisdom. She is survived by her husband, Floyd Murry; sister, Linda Bivens; brother, Dale Smith and sister-in-law, Donna; son, Neal Meeker and daughter-in-law, Jessika; son, Daniel Meeker and daughter-in-law, Lauren; son, Brett Murry and daughter-in-law, Julie; daughter, Kara Fannon and son-in-law, Gary; grandchildren, Ezra Tapp (19), Kordie Mae Meeker (12), Layden Meeker (4), Willow Meeker (2), Grayson Murry (17), Madelyn Murry (9), Walker Fannon (22), and Olivia Fannon (19); as well as a number of cousins and a nephew.
The family will receive friends and family for a time of visitation, Sunday October 4, 2020, in the chapel of Welch Funeral Home in Longview, Texas from 2:00-4:00 p.m. A Life Celebration funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, October 5, 2020, at Welch Funeral Home with Pastor Wayne Norvell officiating.
Donations may also be made to The National Pancreatic Cancer Foundation (www.npcf.us) in memory of Sherry.
