Scott Ray Stevens, known affectionately to all as Scott, passed away after a long and arduous battle with cancer on December 3, 2024, at his home in Hallsville, Texas. Born on May 31, 1957, in Longview, Texas, Scott's journey through life was marked by his unwavering strength, passion for adventure, and deep love for his family and friends.
Scott is lovingly remembered by his devoted wife, Teresa Stevens, his cherished daughter, Rhiannon Houser, and his adored grandchildren, Cailee, Kelsey, and Drayvehn, who brought immense joy and laughter into his life. Scott's presence as a family man was profound and felt in every shared moment, from quiet evenings at home to the boisterous cheers at his grandchildren's sporting events.
Having pursued some college education with the goal of becoming a pilot, Scott's adventurous spirit led him to a diverse career. He spent years working in the oilfield before settling into his role as a retired truck driver for McCrary Trucking. Scott's work was characterized by his strong work ethic, reliability, and the camaraderie he shared with his colleagues.
Scott's love for the outdoors was an integral part of his being. He was happiest when riding motorcycles alongside Teresa and their friends, feeling the freedom of the open road and the wind against his face. His passion for music, especially the rock and roll classics with a soft spot for Pink Floyd, resonated through the many concerts he attended with Teresa, creating memories that would last a lifetime.
Travel and hunting were more than hobbies for Scott; they were expressions of his desire to explore and connect with the world around him. His adventurous spirit was matched only by his commitment to his family, as he spent countless hours with his grandchildren, supporting them and reveling in their achievements.
Scott's legacy extends beyond his family and hobbies. He was a beacon of hope for many, dedicating his life to helping others achieve sobriety. His commitment to the program was unparalleled, and his phone was always answered for those seeking wellness. Scott's guidance, empathy, and unwavering support changed many lives, and the impact of his efforts will continue to be felt by countless individuals.
Among the many who will miss Scott's presence is his little "Ray of sunshine," Bella Rae Stevens, whose bond with Scott was a source of mutual delight and affection. The void left by his passing will be deeply felt by all who knew him, yet his spirit of generosity, love, and support will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to have been touched by his life.
Scott's journey on this earth may have come to a close, but the memories he created, the lives he touched, and the love he shared will endure forever in the hearts of those who knew him. As we bid farewell to Scott Ray Stevens, we celebrate a life well-lived, a man well-loved, and a legacy that will shine brightly for generations to come.
