Ruthie Lee McAlister Deramus Ashe

Ruthie Lee McAlister Deramus Ashe, 98, of Longview, TX passed away peacefully on December 7, 2023 with family by her side. She was born on January 7, 1925 in Haynesville, LA to Walter Lee and Beulah E Herring McAlister. Ruth was a loving wife, mother, and friend to all who knew her.
Ruth married Jesse E. Deramus in July of 1942 and had 5 children together. After Jesse's passing in 1982, she met and married William D. Ashe in 1984 until his death in 2008. She was a devout Christian and a charter member of Mobberly Baptist Church in Longview for 70 years.
Ruth is preceded in death by her parents; her husband Jesse E. Deramus and husband William D. Ashe; two daughters, Sandra C. Roberts and Laura D. Shirley, and grandson Walter A Freeman, her sisters Irene, Lois, Juanita, Linda, and Evelyn; brothers Utah, Ed, Garland, Clindon, and James. She is survived by her son Phil Deramus of Longview, daughters Brenda Freeman of Henderson, Kathy Harris of Humble, and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank Three Oaks Hospice and give a very special thank you to Kelly Jones and Lana Baker for taking such wonderful care of our Mom in her final months.
Services will be held on Wednesday, December 13, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at The Cammack Family Welch Chapel, 4619 Judson Road. Interment will follow at Memory Park Cemetery. A time of visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 12, 2023 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Welch Funeral Home.
