Ronald Denney Life Story

Ronald Davis Denney, Jr., affectionately known to friends and family as Buddy, passed away peacefully on September 16, 2024, in Longview, TX, at the age of 71. Born on September 4, 1953, in Marshall, TX, Buddy lived a full life marked by dedication to his family, service to his community, and a passion for the outdoors. Buddy's early life was spent in Marshall, where he graduated from Marshall High School in the Class of 1972. His education there laid a strong foundation for the unwavering work ethic that would define his career. Buddy's professional life was as varied as it was distinguished, beginning with his family business, Denney's Cleaners, where he learned the value of hard work and customer service. He later transitioned to public service with the Harrison County Sheriff's Department, where his contributions were deeply valued. His commitment to his community culminated in his role as a Court Specialist with the Court of Harrison County, where his diligence and integrity were hallmarks of his tenure. Buddy's life was a testament to the love and laughter he shared with his family. He is survived by his devoted wife, Judy Denney, who was his partner in life's journey for many loving years. The pride and joy of his life was his children; his daughters Chrystal Denney Osborn (Marcus) and Hartley Denney, and his son Everett Denney. Buddy also embraced his role as a stepfather to Richard Parrott and Michael Parrott, all of whom will carry forward his legacy of kindness and strength. Known for his adventurous spirit, Buddy found joy in the simple pleasures of life. While living in Mobile, Alabama, he was introduced to sailing and was often found navigating the waters with the same ease and confidence with which he traversed life's challenges. Riding his motorcycle on the open road, Buddy felt a sense of freedom and exhilaration that was contagious to all who knew him. His love for vintage car shows was more than a hobby; it was a reflection of his appreciation for craftsmanship and nostalgia. An outdoorsman at heart, Buddy relished in fishing and hunting, pastimes that allowed him to connect with nature and create lasting memories with friends and family. Buddy's presence was a source of stability and joy for those around him. His quick wit, warm smile, and the stories he told will be dearly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. His legacy is not only in the work he accomplished but in the character he embodied and the lives he touched.
