Robert Queen Life Story

Robert Lee Queen Sr., affectionately known to all as Bob, was called home to be with the Lord on January 29, 2024, at the age of 88. Born on November 30, 1935, in Parkersburg, West Virginia, Bob was a beacon of light and a pillar of strength for all who knew him. He departed this earthly life in Gladewater, Texas, surrounded by the love and warmth of his family.

Bob's life was a testament to his unwavering faith and the love he held for his beloved wife of 63 years, Shelbia, and their children: Robert Queen Jr. and wife, Sue of Longview, Texas; Kelly Gray and husband, Bob of Gladewater, Texas; Cheryl Queen of Longview, Texas; and Scott Queen and wife, Crystal of Tatum, Texas. He was a cherished father, mentor, and a playful grandfather to 14 grandchildren and a doting great-grandfather to 18 great-grandchildren. His family was his pride and joy, and he instilled in them the values of kindness, perseverance, and unwavering faith.

Throughout his life, Bob served his community and his Lord as a dedicated pastor. His words were a source of comfort and wisdom, touching the hearts of many and guiding them through life's trials and tribulations. Bob was also a proud veteran of the United States Air Force, serving his country with honor and distinction. His service to both God and country defined his character and his commitment to the greater good.

Bob's interests were as rich and varied as the life he led. He found peace and solace in the great outdoors, whether he was casting a line into a serene lake or hitting the links for a round of golf. These moments of leisure were not just hobbies but were expressions of the joy he found in God's creations. His love for these pastimes was only surpassed by the love he had for his family and his faith.

Those who knew Bob would describe him as wise beyond his years, a man whose faith-filled heart guided his every action. He was as handy with a tool as he was with a comforting scripture, always ready to lend a hand or an ear to those in need. His legacy is not just in the works he left behind but in the lives he touched and the wisdom he imparted.

As we gather to celebrate Bob's journey to his eternal home, we remember a life lived fully and faithfully. His laughter, his counsel, and his love remain with us, etched into our memories and woven into the fabric of our lives. Bob Queen Sr. was a man of God, a loving husband, a caring father, and a faithful grandfather. His spirit now rests in the loving arms of our Savior, but his legacy will continue to inspire and guide us for generations to come.
