Robert Burns Life Story

Robert Larry Burns Sr., known affectionately to friends and family as Larry, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones on March 7, 2025. Robert was 83 years young, born on December 24, 1941, in Longview, Texas, he attended and graduated from Pine Tree High school.

He dedicated four decades of his life as a maintenance mechanic to Marathon Letourneau in Longview. His commitment to his work was paralleled only by his devotion to his family and his passions.

In his leisure, Larry was an avid outdoorsman. He found solace and joy in the simplicity of fishing, the thrill of dirt track racing, and cherished family vacations at the lake. His love for these activities was only matched by his enthusiasm for gun collecting, a hobby that reflected his meticulous nature and appreciation for craftsmanship.

Larry's gentle spirit and selfless nature were the cornerstones of his existence. He was a man who believed in the goodness of people and the importance of giving without expectation of return. Larry lived by this quote, "I'm Good", while seeking to help those who knew him with his caring spirit.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Bettye L. Burns, his father, Archie Ray Burns, his former wife and mother of his children, Vivian Burns, and his wife, Charlotte Peek Burns. His legacy continues through his children, Robert Burns Jr. and Stacey Granger, along with 3 Grandchildren and 6 Great Grandchildren, who will forever cherish the memories and lessons imparted by their beloved father.

As we bid farewell to Robert Larry Burns Sr., we reflect on a life well-lived, a journey marked by unwavering integrity and the quiet grace of a man who knew the value of a life filled with love and simplicity. In honoring his memory, we are reminded to live each day with the same compassion and humility that Larry exemplified throughout his time with us.
