Robert LaMont

Robert William LaMont was born in Naples, Texas. He lived in Longview, Texas most of his life and was 67 years old

On Tuesday, January 14, 2025, he passed peacefully from this life of a brief illness.

Robert leaves behind to Celebrate his life; spouse Sheryl LaMont, children Aaron and Heather Bassett, Heather and Eric Golden, Siblings Kelly LaMont and Olga, Charles LaMont and Nancy, Frank Sims, Mary LaMont, 7 grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, even great-nieces and great nephews, too many friends to list and his beloved Siberian Husky Valentine.

He is predeceased by parents Charles LaMont Jr and Fran, David and Marie Sims, Dan LaMont, Phil and Dixie Grimes, Bob and Betty Charles, and numerous others.

In his life he proudly attended The University of Texas at Austin where he earned both his Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science in Zoology.

Robert has been a mason for approximately 40 years. He was a pharmacist and also taught high school science before settling into his chosen career of Martial Arts Instructor running the family oriented East Texas American Society of Karate school. He has taught over 15, 000 students.

Robert enjoyed collecting. His favorite was Longhorn memorabilia. He also enjoyed traveling, meeting people and working with his bonsai trees.

Robert had a wonderfully infectious smile and warm welcoming nature. He made friends wherever he went. Robert is much loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
