Bob's early years in Indianapolis laid a foundation of resilience and ingenuity, which he carried throughout his life. After completing high school, he joined the Navy and served for a short time. Then he moved to Texas where he embarked on a career that reflected his practical skills and passion for solving problems. Bob had a special talent for fixing things mainly appliances, a skill that brought comfort and convenience to many. He would get lost in his garage until the late-night hours when Gus would have to come out and shut the lights off so we would retreat inside. His love for the land and nature was also evident in the years he joyfully spent working on a farm.
A devout Christian, Bob's faith was the cornerstone of his existence.
Bob's zest for life extended to his many hobbies and interests. He was an avid fisherman, often seen with a smile on his face as he took his boat out. Dancing was another joy for Bob; he could often be found gliding across the dance floor, light on his feet, and always ready for the next song. His love for playing cards and bingo was not just about the games themselves but also about the laughter and companionship they brought, especially with his dear friends Etta, Wayne, and Ann.
It was said that Bob had an appetite for life, and this was never more apparent than in his love for food. A visit to the Golden Corral was a feast not just for the body but also for the soul, as he cherished these moments of fellowship over a hearty meal. And oh, how he savored his cherry pies, a sweet testament to the simple pleasures that he treasured.
As we bid farewell to Robert Leroy Christy, we find solace in the knowledge that he is now at peace with his Creator. We celebrate a life well-lived, a journey marked by love, laughter, and the unwavering faith of a man who walked hand in hand with God.
Rest in peace, dear Bob, until we meet again.
