Robert "Steve" Albright, a man of steadfast character and a heart full of kindness, passed away on December 12, 2023, in Marshall, Texas. Born on April 11, 1958, in Gilmer, Texas, Steve's journey through life was marked by his dedication to his family, his work, and the simple pleasures of the outdoors.
Steve grew up in the warm embrace of a loving family and graduated from Harleton High School in 1977. His thirst for knowledge and self-improvement led him to further his education at Kilgore College, where he expanded his horizons and prepared for a life of service and hard work. Steve's career was a testament to his dedication and resilience. After 25 years of honorable service as a prison guard with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice in Palestine, Texas, he retired only to continue his industrious path at General Cable. His work ethic was unparalleled, and he often said that working was what he enjoyed most.
Family was the cornerstone of Steve's life. He was a beloved father to four children: Holly Haskins, Carrie Albright, Matthew Albright and his wife Phoenix, and Andrew Albright. His love and guidance were also a cherished gift to his five grandchildren: Robbie Haskins, Haley Haskins, Micah Lord, Alexis Lord, and Sophie Albright. Steve's siblings, Sherry Echols and her husband Marty, Tina Cox and her husband Mike, and Sonny Albright, will remember him as a brother who always lent a helping hand and a listening ear. He also shared a special bond with his sisters-in-law, Glenna Lowe and Judy Asaff. While Steve rejoiced in the company of his family, he also carried the memory of those who preceded him in death: his parents, Marie Smith Albright and Robert C. Albright; his cherished wife, Cindy Lowe Albright; and his brother, Dennise Albright.
Steve's interests were as genuine as his smile. He found solace and joy in the tranquility of hunting and fishing, activities that allowed him to connect with nature and enjoy peaceful moments of reflection. Yet, it was the time spent with his family that he treasured above all. Steve's presence at family gatherings was a source of joy and comfort, his friendly demeanor and thoughtful nature making every moment spent with him memorable.
Those who knew Steve will remember him as a man who could fix almost anything-a true testament to his handy skills. His ability to solve problems, whether it was mending a broken toy for his grandchildren or fixing a friend's car, was only matched by his willingness to help others. Steve's legacy is one of love, hard work, and the countless lives he touched with his generosity and spirit.
As we bid farewell to Robert "Steve" Albright, we celebrate a life lived with purpose and love. His memory will continue to inspire and guide us, just as the stars he so loved to gaze upon during his peaceful nights outdoors. Steve's journey on earth may have concluded, but the stories of his kindness, his laughter, and his unwavering commitment to his family will be recounted for generations. We take comfort in knowing that Steve's legacy will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him.
Steve's life will be commemorated in a private ceremony, surrounded by those who loved him most. As we honor his memory, let us hold close the lessons he taught us through his example: to cherish our loved ones, to find joy in our labor, and to lend a helping hand whenever we can. Rest in peace, Steve; your light will never fade from our lives.
A memorial service will be scheduled for a later date.
