Richard Toussaint Life Story

Richard Ferdinand Toussaint (Dick), 91, passed away peacefully on November 5, 2024 with his beloved wife, Sandra, by his side. Dick passed in Dallas, Texas after a long, hard fought battle with Parkinson's Disease. Dick was born in St. Paul, Minnesota to Ferdinand and Aurelia Toussaint on March 31, 1933. He graduated from St. Agnus High School in St. Paul, Minnesota and continued his education, receiving his Bachelor's degree in Chemistry at St. Thomas College and his Master's degree at Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa. Dick worked as a Chemist for the Atomic Energy Commission and the Aluminum Company of America, ALCOA. His father and mother started a courtship after meeting at St. Paul Fire and Marine Insurance Company. Twenty-five years later, in the summer of 1952 - as providence would have it - Dick and Sandy also met at the same insurance company during college summer break...and the rest is history. They were married on August 18, 1956. Their union was blessed by the addition of four children: Rick, Denise, Cheryl and Jeff. Dick and Sandy celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary this year. Dick enjoyed tennis, the outdoors, camping, snow skiing, traveling and especially time spent with family. He had a unique sense of humor that was particularly enjoyed by his family. He is survived by his loving wife, Sandra Tischman Toussaint; his brother, Roger Toussaint and his wife, Lyn; his children, Richard F. Toussaint, Jr. and his wife, Adelle, Denise Avinger and her husband, Pat, Cheryl Sperier and Jeff Toussaint; his grandchildren, Jaime Heidenreich and her husband, Kevin, Richard Toussaint III and his wife, Anastasiia, Patrick Avinger and his wife, Lindsey, Katie LePage and her husband, Jake, Aubrey Aguero and her husband, Manny, Jeffrey Sperier; and 11 great-grandchildren. Dick was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who left a legacy that will live on for generations. A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, November 16, 2024 at 11:00am at St. Joseph Catholic Church.
