Richard Hitt Life Story

Richard Lee Hitt, Sr. born July 2, 1953 in Greenville, Texas went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, September 19, 2020.
Bro. Hitt served as an assistant pastor and was also a long-time member of Emmanuel Baptist Church of Longview (formerly Longview Baptist Temple). He also served as a faculty member for many years for Texas Independent Baptist Seminaries and Schools. He was also a traveling evangelist to many different states and countries and thoroughly enjoyed doing mission work around the globe. He received his bachelor's degree in theology from Bible Baptist College in 1977 and also achieved his master's and later doctorate degrees in theology through much hard work and dedication.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Margaret Hitt; brother, Bruce Hitt and in-laws, Curtis and Georgia Johnson. He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Connie; two children, Jennifer (Matt) Sullivan of Longview, Texas and R.J. Hitt of Longview, Texas; two grandchildren, Logan and Khloe Sullivan along with brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law and many cousins, nephews, nieces, great-nephews and great-nieces.
The family will receive friends for a time of visitation on Friday, September 25, 2020 from 6:00-8:00 PM in the chapel of Welch Funeral. A Life Celebration service will be on Saturday, September 26, 2020 at 11:00 AM at Emmanuel Baptist Church of Longview 2200 W. Loop 281 Longview, Texas 75604.
