Richard "Gene" Clark a devoted husband, father, son, and friend passed away on Monday, March 1, 2021 at his residence.
A lifelong resident of Longview, Gene was born on August 15, 1940 to Eldon E. and Wanda L. Clark. He was a graduate of Spring Hill High School and furthered his studies at Arlington State University where he graduated with a Bachelors of Science Degree in mathematics and soon began his career as a petroleum engineer. In 1980 he started his own company, Richard E. Clark, Inc. Never one to rest on his laurels, Gene chartered Spring Hill State Bank and served as Chairman of the Board for over 40 years.
Community service was something near and dear to Gene and he spent a large part of his adult life giving back the Spring Hill community through his years of service. He served as president of both the Lions Club and Spring Hill School Board. Gene also served on the Spring Hill Water District Board and was an active 32nd Degree Mason and Shriner who thoroughly enjoyed supporting their many worthwhile causes.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Eldon E. and Wanda L. Clark.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Dixie E. Clark; daughter, Nikki Clark; and grandson, Chase Smith.
At the family's request, services will be private.
