Raymond Reese Life Story

Raymond "Pete" Marshall Reese passed away Sunday July 19, 2020 at age 83. Ola Belle and Luther Reese welcomed their last baby boy on Oct 24, 1936 and named him Raymond Marshall Reese. But everyone who knew and loved him, always called him Pete. He grew up in the Gum Springs community and graduated from Hallsville High school.
He took great pride in working many years for the United States Postal Service and enjoyed delivering mail to almost every area of Longview, Texas He especially enjoyed the downtown area because Pete was a people person and he never met a stranger. He loved talking with people and he always greeted you with a smile.
For 40 plus years he enjoyed living on his farm on Hawk Road in Diana, Texas. He loved everything about being outside, from working the land, to planting trees to simply enjoying looking at God's creation and all the animals. He delighted in his many trips to Colorado and to South Texas.
He was an excellent dancer and he made many friends while attending dances in the East Texas area. Education was very important to him, and he helped many young people with college expenses.
Those left to cherish his memory are sisters Carolyn Belle Fleming of Mantua, New Jersey and Charlene Nilson of Jackson, Michigan and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 23, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel of Welch Funeral Home with visitation to be held one hour before the service.
The family would like to thank Sue Wallace for her loving care of Pete for the past few years.

Friends and family have shared their relationship to show their support.
