Raymond Fleming Life Story

Raymond Ray Fleming went to be with his Lord and Savior February 28 at the young age of 97. He was born in Stigler, Ok to Belle Glass and Homer Valentine Fleming January 5, 1925. His dad was a share cropper which a few years later brought the family to Carlisle Texas. He was a man of God and loved sharing Jesus with everyone.  It was always his desire for everyone have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Raymond was a deacon and faithful member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Kilgore. He proudly served his country in the Army during WWII in the Phillipines and Solomon Islands from 1943 -1946. Upon returning from the war he met the love of his life Dannie Myrle Gibson. They married in December of 1946. He went to work for Red Ball Motor Freight where he worked until he retired the first time. Not one to sit idle, he then started a lawn service business where he worked at Genpak until retiring again at age 90. After the death of Dannie Myrle he met and married Ruthie Conway. They spent many happy years together until her death in 2015. He was known and loved by so many as Uncle Raymond.

He loved sharing stories of he and his brother's (Red) hunting rabbits and childhood adventurers.  Raymond was always working in his yard whether planting flowers or cutting and piling brush until just a week before his death. On sunny day Raymond would always the outside soaking up that sun with his little dog Ratchet. When he couldn't be outside he would be reading western books(shoot 'm ups) or his Bible unless someone called to go grab a bit to eat. He always celebrated his birthday with food, fellowship and, of course, his choice of what flavor of birthday cake he wanted.

Raymond was preceded in death by his parents, wives Dannie Myrle and Ruthie Conway, daughter Joan Murlene Fleming Paul, brothers Charlie, John, Homer and DP (Red). Sisters Mary, Josephine and Alma.
