Randal Root Life Story

Randal Dale Root, known affectionately as Randy, passed away peacefully on April 16, 2025, in his hometown of Marshall, Texas, at the age of 76. Born on December 9, 1948, Randy was a steadfast pillar of the community, a loving family man, and a proud veteran who dedicated his life to service, both in the military and in his local community. Randy is survived by his beloved wife of 55 and a half years, Patricia Dee Root, who was his high school sweetheart and lifelong companion. Together they raised their son, Bradley Root, and cherished the joy of watching their grandchildren, Braden Root and Victoria Root, grow and flourish. His sister, Robin Rolon and her husband Francis, also survive him, along with his aunts, Liz Nichols and Elsie Pugh, and numerous other relatives and friends who will remember Randy with deep affection and respect. Preceding him in death were his parents, Vernon Dale and Mary Evelyn (Huffman) Root, as well as several aunts and uncles. Randy's legacy is carried forward not only through his family but also through the many lives he touched with his kindness and generosity. A proud patriot, Randy served with honor in the United States Air Force and was a Vietnam Veteran. His commitment to his country was a testament to his character and his sense of duty. Following his military service, Randy embarked on a successful career in international and community banking before taking on the role of Chief Financial Officer for Davis Chemical under the leadership of Jim Davis. He approached his work with the same integrity and dedication that he applied to all aspects of his life. Randy's involvement in the community was extensive. He officiated football games for over 15 years, bringing fairness and joy to the sport he loved. His commitment to the betterment of his community was further demonstrated through his many years of service with the Optimist Club. Randy's faith was a cornerstone of his life, and he was a faithful member of Central Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon and also where he shared his love for music by singing in the choir and occasionally directing it. In his later years, he attended Cypress Valley Bible Church. His interests were many and varied. Randy was an avid golfer and fisherman, a football enthusiast, and a concertgoer. However, his greatest passion was the time he spent with his family, especially during camping trips and attending his grandchildren's various events. He was a quiet man, but his positive attitude was a powerful force that uplifted those around him. Randy Root's life was one of unwavering commitment-to his family, his country, his faith, and his community. He approached every day with a quiet strength and an infectious optimism that inspired others to strive for the best in themselves. As we remember Randy, we celebrate a life well-lived, marked by love, service, and the joy of simple pleasures. His memory will be treasured and kept alive in the stories shared by his family and friends, and in the many lives he influenced through his work and volunteerism. Randy's journey on this earth may have come to a close, but the impact of his kind spirit and generous heart will continue to resonate for generations to come. A life so beautifully lived deserves to be beautifully remembered. Please join us in honoring the memory of Randal Dale Root-a truly extraordinary man who was loved by many and who made the world a better place by simply being in it.
