Peggy Genell Summers Metzger, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on September 25, 2025, at the age of 97. Born on August 21, 1928, in Karnack, Texas. She was the valedictorian of her high school class and went on to graduate from East Texas Baptist University. Peggy moved to the Dallas-Fort Worth area and worked as an executive assistant at Bell Helicopter Co., where she met Robert W. Metzger. They married in 1977, and they shared a loving life together until his passing. Peggy was a woman of many talents and interests. She loved the quiet beauty of bird-watching and flowers, and she poured her creativity into crafts, cooking, and baking. Above all, she treasured spending time with family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Mary Summers, her devoted husband, Robert W. Metzger, and her siblings: William Herbert Summers, Mary Geneva Summers Shivers, Raymond Summers, Charles Summers, and Betty Lou Summers Kelley. Peggy's memory will be forever cherished by her loving children and their spouses: Denise and Sene Ale of Arlington, Texas; Robbie Metzger of Euless, Texas; David and Marie Metzger of Houston, Texas; Tim and Nancy Creighton of Boulder, Colorado She was a proud grandmother to: Dennis and Nicole Ale; Sene Ale Jr. and Monika Maree Malendez; Elizabeth Metzger; Stephanie and Reid Jonkers; Andrew and Julia Creighton; Lillian Creighton, Jason Fennell and Hugues Bruant. Peggy was also blessed with twelve great-grandchildren: Dominik, Dylan, Daxton, Alani, Celia, Henry, Charlie, Hollin, Elm, Ofelia, Delilah, and Clementine. Her legacy of love and family will continue to grow through them. Service A graveside service for Peggy Summers Metzger will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at Andrews Cemetery in Karnack, Texas. The service will be officiated by Reverend Dana Jean of Trinity Episcopal Church of Marshall, Texas, under the direction of Sullivan Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trinity Episcopal Church of Marshall, Texas or a charity of choice.
