Life Story
Funeral Services for Mrs. Patsy Ruth Garrett, age 92, of Longview, Texas will be held on Wednesday, September 13, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at Pine Tree Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Longview, Texas.
Patsy Ruth Garrett was born June 10, 1931, in Longview, TX to the late Howard and Novie Everett. Patsy passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by loved ones on September 7, 2023. She was a graduate of Pine Tree High School and a long-time member of the Town East Cumberland Presbyterian Church of Mesquite, TX, and Pine Tree Cumberland Presbyterian Church of Longview, Texas.
She was married to Joe M. Garrett on July 28, 1956, and together they raised a strong, loving family: Brenda S. Garrett (Aamold), WM Howard Garrett, and Cynthia R. Garrett. After Joe's death in 1978 she worked in the production of computer chips for Mostech/Texas Instruments for many years while raising and supporting her children and grandchildren. During this time, she had many close friends, coworkers and family that she loved to cook for and entertain. She always wanted to be gracious to others and help in any way she could.
Singing and musicals were just a couple of things "Nana" loved and shared with EVERYONE! She would always break into a song and even a little dance during conversation. There was always music in our family, at any event.
In her last 10 years, she was supported and surrounded by incredibly gracious people through family, Heart to Heart Hospice, Pine Tree Cumberland Presbyterian Church, and most of all, Doris Shelton. Doris began as a caregiver and quickly became part of our family. Patsy (and all of us) adored Doris and trusted her beloved friendship as Patsy's health deteriorated.
She leaves to cherish her memory; Sister Nancy (Johnny) Abernathy, Daughter Cindy Garrett, Grandchildren Rodney Archambeau, Danielle Rinehart, Kelly Aamold; great-grandchildren Michael (Ashley), Ryan (Alyssa), Christopher (Abby), Megan, Autumn, Ethen, great-great-grandchildren, Iris, Daisy, and Eloise. Along with numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Patsy was preceded in death by her husband Joe, daughter Brenda, son Howard, parents Howard & Novie, and brother Howard "Sonny" Everett.
