Pat Behanick Life Story

Patricia (Pat) Helen Behanick, age 83 of Longview, TX passed away on October 29, 2019. She was born February 2, 1936 in Shreveport, LA, to Patrick and Helen Malloy. Patricia was a 1954 graduate of Byrd High School in Shreveport, LA. Following graduation, she attended Norton School of Business where she received her 2 year Business Degree. During this time she met the love of her life and soulmate, Frank Behanick, at the skating rink in Shreveport. Frank was stationed at Barksdale Air Force Base in Bossier City. The two married August 20, 1955 in Shreveport, LA and celebrated their 64th anniversary in August.


Pat was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother (Mimi), great grandmother, aunt and friend to many. She lived her life as a model Christian and instilled many lifelong values on her children and grandchildren. Frank and Pat moved to their home in Longview in 1966, where she still lived at the time of her passing. She was a long time member of St Anthony’s Catholic Church, where she made many lifelong friends through Catholic Daughters and the Knights of Columbus.


She is survived by her loving husband Frank and her 3 children, Tom Behanick and wife Janet of Houston, Cindy Comfort and husband Mark of Longview and Christy King and husband Sam of Longview. She was also the loving Mimi to 7 grandchildren, Ryan Comfort and wife Wendy of Lake Dallas, Jennifer Cobb and husband Miles of Houston, James Behanick and wife Amanda of Houston, Chelsea Mayfield and husband Michael of Longview, Brooke Alston and husband Philip of Longview, Whitney Behanick and fiancé Taylor Inman of Houston, Brock McAlister and wife Breanna of Gladewater, and bonus Grandson Jonathan King and wife Mallory of Deport. She also leaves behind 9 great grandchildren, Chance Mayfield, Tate Cobb, Maddox Mayfield, Lucy Alston, Rylee Comfort, Audrey Behanick, Wyett McAlister, Marshall Alston, Amelia Behanick, and 2 bonus great grandchildren, Caden King and Colton King. She loved spending time with her babies that she considered her “therapy.” She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, friends and her fur babies she loved dearly.

In addition to her parents, Patricia was preceded in death by her baby brother Richard Allen, sister Jeannine Malloy Harrison, son-in-law Alan McAlister and niece Vicki Harrison Kivell.

A rosary will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 3rd at Welch Funeral Home, with visitation to follow from 5:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 4th at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church. A procession to the final resting place at Rosewood Park Cemetery will follow the service.
