Nelda Earle (Pride) Ottman

Nelda E Ottman was born in Huntington, Texas on November 10, 1927 to Mr. & Mrs. Corbin Dewey Pride.
She lived all her childhood in Huntington and her christian home was the center of activity for her family and childhood friends.

She graduated from Huntington High School as Valedictorian of her class and from Satterwhite Commercial College, Lufkin, Texas.

Nelda moved to Longview, Texas in April 1945, to begin her working career. She worked for five years as an executive secretary of Longview Chamber
of Commerce. She became very involved in the growth of Longview. Other places of employment included John Wrather Oil, E. C. Johnston Co, Robert
Cargille, Inc., V.S. Industries, Charles W. Lutes Oil Co., Frank Taggart, CPA and Curtis Blakely, CPA.

Nelda and Gerhart Ottman were married December 24, 1949, Their only child was Mark Gerhart Ottman. She was preceded in death by her son, Mark, in 2004,
and husband, Gerhart, in 2008. Also preceding her in death were her parents, Corbin & Mildred Pride and sister, Patricia Choate.

The Ottomans were longtime members of First Baptist Church. Gerhart and Nelda owned Ottman's Antique & Furniture Shop. They spent their 59 years of marriage
living in Longview and were actively involved in church, business, sports & community. Nelda will be missed by her small family and many friends.

Nelda is survived by her daughter in law Lauren Hartwell of Saugatuck Township, Michigan, her nephew Michael Choate and wife Julie, of Colleyville,Texas, her niece
Cindy Choate Metcalf of Burleson, Texas. Also surviving are her great nieces, Natalie Kown and husband Alex, Madison Choate and fiancé Brandon Woodbury. Great nephews, Russell Metcalf and wife Alyssa, Reid Metcalf and wife Jenna. Great great niece, Maren Metcalf. Two great great nephews, Mason Metcalf & Harrison Kown.
Sister in law, Barbara Ottman and Brother in law, Gene Choate.

The family will receive friends for a time of visitation on Thursday, June 17, 2021 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00p.m in the Garden Court of Welch Funeral Home. A Life Celebration service will be held on Friday, June 18, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Welch Funeral Home.
