Naomi Leeper Life Story

Naomi R. Leeper, age 79, passed away peacefully on November 29, 2025, in Longview, Texas. She was born on March 31, 1946, in Honolulu, Hawaii, and later made her home in Texas, where she raised her family, built lifelong friendships, and created a life filled with love, resilience, and cherished memories.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years and the love of her life, Gerald Leeper; her parents, Benjamin and Mary Revera; and her sisters, Josephine and Marie. Losing Gerald was one of the hardest moments of her life, and those who loved her find comfort knowing they have now been reunited, hand in hand once again.

Naomi leaves behind a large and loving family who will forever cherish her memory. She is survived by her children: her son Michael Gonzales and his wife Charlotte Wise Gonzales of Longview, Texas; her son Brian Leeper and his wife Tiffany Leeper of Las Vegas, Nevada; her daughter Deanna Hankins and her husband Kenny Hankins of Diana, Texas; her daughter Vivian Pendarvis and her husband Rickey Pendarvis of Diana, Texas; and her daughter Jerilyn Bertao and her husband Jimmy Bertao of Manteca, California.

She was blessed with many grandchildren who brought her joy and laughter: Hunter Gonzales and his wife Mar-Isa, Tristen Pendarvis, Sylar Pendarvis, Richard Powell and his wife Melyssa, Mathew Powell and his wife Zoey, Rowdy Powell, J.W.  Powell, Travis Powell, David Wise and his wife Faith, Kayla DeMoss and her husband Ryan, Jordan Leeper and his wife Sierra, Brianna Leeper, Cheyenne Caballero, and Brittani Bertao. Naomi’s heart grew even bigger with the arrival of seventeen great-grandchildren, with many other nieces, nephews, extended family members, as well as dear friends, each one adding a new spark of happiness to her life.

Naomi lived a life defined by hard work, compassion, and dedication. She spent many years serving others as a Certified Nursing Assistant, caring for patients with the same gentleness and patience she showed her own family. Later, she worked as a transporter for Union Pacific Railroad, safely transporting workers and forming genuine connections along the way. Her coworkers often described her as someone who made long days feel lighter simply by being herself.

Outside of work, Naomi found joy in the simple things that made life meaningful. She loved gardening and tending to her plants, fishing on peaceful mornings, and expressing her creativity through crocheting and sewing. Naomi enjoyed her visits to the casino, where she loved playing the slot machines and sharing laughter with friends and family. She adored her poodle, Brandy, along with all her grand fur babies who never failed to brighten her day.

Naomi had a natural ability to make people feel welcome and valued. She loved to talk, and her conversations were filled with humor, warmth, and wisdom. Whether she was sharing stories, offering comfort, or enjoying the presence of her loved ones, she created moments that will be held close in the hearts of those who knew her.

Naomi’s legacy lives on in the love she gave her family, the strength she carried through every challenge, and the kindness she showed to everyone she met. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren will forever carry her spirit within them.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 3, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Welch Funeral Home in Longview, Texas.

A private service for family and close friends will be held on Thursday, December 4.

The family would like to offer special thanks to the staff at Longview Regional Medical Center and PrimeCare Hospice for their compassionate care and support during Naomi’s final days. Their kindness brought comfort to both her and her family.

Naomi’s life was a blessing, her memory is a treasure, and she will be deeply missed by all who loved her.
