Michael Spence Morris, known to all as Michael, passed away peacefully in Harleton, Texas, on January 21, 2024. He was born on May 10, 1976 in Longview, Texas. Michael was preceded in death by his grandparents, Gladys Simmons Stout; W.H. (Buck) Morris; and Lillian Russell Morris; as well as an aunt, Tammy Morris Martin. A legacy of kindness and strength will be remembered by loved ones as they remember Michael's actions and the stories he shared with his children. His journey through life was marked by his unwavering spirit, his love for his family, and a passion for the world of technology and martial arts. His early years were spent in the embrace of his loving family. A proud father, Michael leaves behind two beautiful children, Lillian Mikayla Morris and Jax Ashton Morris, who were the center of his world. His devotion to his family extended to his parents, Carolyn Ferguson Morris and Dan H. Morris; and he was a cherished brother to Steve and Stacy Morris; Shanon and Tabatha Morris; and Scott Morris and Heather Massey. Michael's life was further enriched by the laughter and love of his nieces and nephews, Jonathan; Joshua; Casey; Cheyenne; Katie and her daughter, Maddie; and Will and Jade Morris and their son, Karter. Michael's academic journey began at Harleton ISD and continued as he pursued higher education at Stephen F. Austin State University, where he was a proud member of Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity. He also attended TSTC and mastered computer programming. His intellectual curiosity and expertise led him to a fulfilling career as a computer programmer at Wright's Machine Shop in Harleton, Texas. There, he was not only recognized for his skillful work but also for his camaraderie and the strong bonds he formed with his colleagues. Beyond his professional achievements, Michael was a man of diverse interests. From a young age, he embraced the discipline and art of karate, a passion he was thrilled to see his children adopt. His joy was palpable as he watched them follow in his footsteps, each kick and punch a reflection of a shared bond. Michael's enthusiasm extended to the digital realm, where he found pleasure in buying and selling treasures on the internet. His whimsical sense of humor shone through in unique finds, like the blue and white cow he once purchased from Russia - a testament to his love of the unexpected. Michael's life philosophy echoed the famous words of Ralph Waldo Emerson: "To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children... to leave the world a bit better... to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded." These words encapsulate the essence of Michael's journey, one where success was measured not in material wealth but in the love he gave and the joy he brought to others. As we bid farewell to Michael, we reflect on a life lived with purpose and love. His memory will be cherished in the hearts of those who knew him, and his legacy will continue through the lives of his children and the countless memories he has left behind. Michael's story does not end with his passing but lives on in the kindness he showed, the laughter he shared, and the wisdom he imparted. May we all find comfort in knowing that Michael Spence Morris made the world a brighter place simply by being in it.
