Michael Kerr Life Story

Michael Maurice Kerr, a beloved husband, father, and friend, received his Heavenly change of address on May 17th, at the age of 65, in Longview, Texas, after a brief battle with liver cancer.

Born in Texas City, Texas, Michael was the son of Clinton and Tommie Ruth Kerr. From an early age, he developed a strong work ethic and a passion for skilled trades. He held a successful career in welding, fabrication, and pipe fitting, with Brown and Root National Fabrication. Beyond his professional life, Michael found immense joy in the simple pleasures of life. He cherished moments spent with his family, actively participated in his church community, and found solace in the outdoors through hunting and fishing. His involvement with Boy Scouts of America reflected his desire to mentor and guide young people, leaving a lasting impact on many lives.

Michael was preceded in death by his father, Clinton Maurice Kerr, and his brother, Tommy Lee Kerr. He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Ingrid Kerr, who stood by his side through thick and thin; his daughter, Theresa Carroll, and her husband, Patrick; his son, Clinton Kerr; his mother, Tommie Ruth Kerr; and his cherished granddaughter, Roslyn Carroll. His memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends. In lieu of flowers, Michael requested that donations be made to the Camille Acres Baptist Church building fund or Boy Scout Troop 618 (memo Michael Kerr Scholarship Fund), honoring Michael's commitment to his faith and the development of future generations.
