Walter William Marvin Dunsworth, known to friends and family as Marvin, embarked on his final adventure on December 27, 2023, at the age of 56. Born on a crisp autumn day in 1967 in Wichita Falls, Texas, Marvin's zest for life and laughter began early and never waned. He passed away in Longview, Texas, after a valiant battle with a long illness, during which he maintained his sense of humor to the very end.
Marvin was a man who could find the humor in any situation, a trait that endeared him to all who had the pleasure of crossing his path. He was the life of the party, the spark at family gatherings, and the person you could always count on for a hearty laugh, even when times were tough. Professionally, Marvin dedicated himself to more than just a job; he was a loving husband and father first and foremost. His commitment to his family was unwavering, and he often joked that his most significant achievements were not in an office, but in the happy home he built and the lives he shaped with his love and laughter
Marvin's interests were as big and bold as his personality. A true Texan at heart, he had a passion for horses, history, and, of course, guns. He could often be found riding through the trails, with a twinkle in his eye, recounting tales of historical figures as if they were old pals who had shared a drink with him just the night before. And when it came to guns, Marvin was both a collector and a storyteller, each piece in his collection having a narrative that he would enthusiastically share with a captive audience.
The words that best describe Marvin are funny, adventurous, and loving, and it's no coincidence that those words also describe the best kind of friend one could have. His humor was the glue in many relationships, his adventurous spirit was the compass that led to shared escapades, and his loving nature was the warmth that made you feel like you belonged.
As we bid farewell to Marvin, we remember a man who could turn the mundane into the magical with just a quip. He taught us to laugh in the face of adversity, to seek adventure in the everyday, and to love without reservation. While the curtain has closed on his time with us, the echoes of his laughter will reverberate in our hearts forever.
Marvin, here's to your final curtain call. You've left the stage of life, but your one-man show will continue to inspire standing ovations in the stories we tell and the memories we cherish. Ride on, cowboy, into the great beyond, where the trails are endless, the history books are open, and the laughter is eternal.
Marvin was preceded death by his father, Joe Burl Dunsworth Sr. and mother, Loretta Gail Dunsworth. Survivors include his wife, Suporntip "Nok" Dunsworth; daughter, Elizabeth Dawn; brothers, Joe Burl Jr. and wife, Judy; Chris and wife, Jennifer; sisters, Cindy and Robbie.
