Martha Ware Life Story

Martha Sue Ware, known affectionately as Sue by her friends and family, passed away peacefully in her hometown of Marshall, TX, on May 28, 2025, at the age of 80. Born on May 2, 1945, to the late Clayton and Lanelle Ellis, Sue lived a life marked by devotion to her family, her work, and her faith. Sue's journey began as a bright-eyed girl in Marshall, where she grew up surrounded by the love and warmth of her parents. As she blossomed into a young woman, she met and married the love of her life, Prentice Ware. Together, they built a life filled with joy, shared experiences, and a family that would become her pride and joy. Sue and Prentice celebrated 37 years of marriage, a testament to their unwavering commitment to each other. Her role as a mother was one she cherished deeply. She is survived by her husband, Prentice Ware; her daughter, Jennifer Strong; her grandchildren, Kim Hughes and Holly Oney, and ten great-grandchildren who will carry on Sue's legacy of love and kindness. Sue also leaves behind her stepchildren, Shane Ware, Scott Ware, and Leslie Waters, who were embraced as her own. Though she was preceded in death by her daughter, Cindy Hollis, Sue's nurturing spirit will continue to be felt by all who knew her. Sue's professional life was marked by a dedicated 28-year career as a data processor at Thiokol. Her colleagues knew her as a diligent and reliable presence, always ready to lend a helping hand or share a word of encouragement. Sue's commitment to her work was paralleled only by her dedication to her faith. As a lifelong member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church, she lived her beliefs through her actions, embodying the love and grace that were central to her character. Beyond her family and work, Sue had a passion for reading and travel. Her adventures took her from the pages of countless books to the sunny shores of California, a favorite destination that captured her heart time and again. However, it was the journey through her own family's history that truly captivated her. Sue spent countless hours researching genealogy, meticulously tracing the roots of her family tree and compiling books that would serve as a cherished history for generations to come. Sue's love for her family was her true north, the guiding force that informed every aspect of her life. Whether she was sharing stories with her grandchildren, celebrating milestones with her children, or embarking on a new adventure with Prentice, she did so with a full heart and an unwavering sense of purpose. As we bid farewell to Martha Sue Ware, we are reminded of the profound impact she had on the lives of those around her. Her warmth, her passion, and her unwavering kindness have left an indelible mark on the world. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to have known her. Sue's story is one of love, faith, and family-a story that will be told for years to come. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to PrimeCare Hospice and Visiting Angels for the care and love shown to Sue.
