A time of visitation will be held for Mrs. Marsha Ann Parsons, age 76, on Friday, December 6, 2024 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. At The Cammack Family, Welch Funeral Home. Marsha Ann Parsons, a spirited and adventurous soul, passed away peacefully on November 9, 2024, in Plano, TX following complications after a recent surgical procedure. Born on September 25, 1948, in Beaumont, TX, Marsha's passion for life was evident in everything she pursued. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend who left an indelible mark on the hearts of those who knew her. Marsha was raised in Longview, TX where she learned to appreciate fine East Texas cuisine, horseback riding, water skiing, playing cards, and singing in the choir. She graduated from Longview High School in 1966 and attended Texas Tech University. Professionally, Marsha held administrative positions with several different companies but ultimately dedicated 20 years of service to the Texas Department of Health and Human Services before her retirement. Her commitment to helping others was not only a career but a calling that she fulfilled with grace and empathy. Even in retirement, she continued to engage and volunteer within the communities she called home including Longview, Houston, and Amarillo in Texas and Los Alamos in New Mexico. Marsha's creative spirit found a home within the fiber arts communities of all the places she lived. Her skillful hands and imaginative mind produced beautiful knitted creations, many of which she lovingly gifted to friends and family. This hobby was more than a pastime; it was a thread that connected her to a community of kindred spirits who shared her passion. Marsha was a devoted member of the Episcopal Church and spent many active years as a member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Longview, TX. Her faith played a central role in her life and she was known to share her talents, donating hand knitted socks, prayer shawls, etc. to many of the church communities and other charitable organizations where she lived. Her involvement in the church provided her with spiritual sustenance and a fellowship that supported her through life's journey. An adventurous spirit, Marsha had a zest for travel, exploring new places, and making memories that lasted a lifetime. She was never one to shy away from an adventure, whether it be trips with friends or family or the excursions to Australia, the United Kingdom, and Spain that she shared with her late husband, Monty. Her love for travel was paralleled only by her love for dachshunds and the small shelter dogs she adopted and cared for over the years, providing them with a loving home and a second chance at life. Marsha enjoyed spending time with her family, including watching her grandson play baseball and the upright bass and cherished the many friendships she forged throughout her life. She looked forward to her annual September girls trips and planning activities and events with her local ladies groups. Most recently, Marsha became an active member of the Retired Old Females of Longview, where she shared many joys and challenges with her peers. Marsha was preceded in death by her husband, William "Monty" Jameson; her brother, Perry Parsons; her mother, Clara Messner and stepfather, Buzz Messner; and her father, Dixon Parsons. She leaves behind a legacy of love and vivacity in her son, Jason Scharff; grandson, Jackson (who knew her as Gaga); daughter-in-law, Jackie; and many good friends. Those who knew Marsha will remember her as a woman of passion-passionate about her work, her hobbies, her church, and most importantly, her family. Her infectious laughter, her readiness for adventure, and her unwavering spirit will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Marsha Ann Parsons lived a life full of purpose and joy. Her story is one of love, laughter, and the enduring strength of the human spirit. As we bid farewell to this remarkable woman, we celebrate the time we had with her and the countless ways she enriched our lives. Her memory will continue to inspire and guide us, just as her presence once did. Rest in peace, Marsha. Your spirit lives on in the lives you touched.
