As you read this, know that I am already in Heaven, well with my Lord, and having a wonderful reunion with my Mama and Daddy, my two sisters, my son and my husband.
I was born in Luling, Texas, November 10, 1930, to Emmett and Alma English and two loving sisters Gertrude and Geraldine. My sisters were 10 and 12 and I was their “doll”. They curled my hair, dressed me, and Dean took me on her dates sometimes.
We came to Longview in 1934 and lived in the “Big Woods”. My parents rented a small building and started a small country grocery store. Mama was a great salesperson, so we always had food.
I started school at Judson, where I graduated in May of 1947 and married in June of 1947. I was a young bride of 16 and out of that marriage was born my wonderful son, Monnie Glenn Linton.
I was employed in the banking industry for 42 years.
In 1968, I was at a dance and met the most wonderful man, Jerry Burge. We had a long courtship before we married on April 15, 1971, then we danced our way through 52 years of marriage. We enjoyed traveling, working the ranch, volunteering, but most of all being with our family.
My survivors include Monnie’s precious wife Brenda; stepdaughter Susan Blankenship; grandsons Blake Linton and wife Jennifer, Burge Linton and wife Kristal, Shawn Schafer and wife Bonnie; great-grandchildren Aubrey, Luke and Georgia Linton; and many nieces and nephews.
Marilois English Burge was loved and adored by all who were blessed to know her. She was a hard worker and wonderful storyteller with a great sense of humor who loved to serve others, especially her family. She left this world for her heavenly home on Monday, July 14, 2025.
Funeral services will be held at The Cammack Family Funeral Home, Longview, Texas on Saturday, July 19, 2025, at 10 a.m., with visitation preceding the service at 9:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Longview Community Ministries at 506 North 2nd St. Longview, Texas 75601.
