Maggie Sue (Padgett) Powell, affectionately known as Sue and Gran to her family and friends, peacefully passed away on November 27, 2024, at the age of 93. She was born on June 14, 1931, in rural Collin County, Texas, the second of seven children born to Clarence and Lottie (Holmes) Padgett. Sue married Calvin O. Powell on March 12, 1954. They were faithful in loving and supporting each other until his death in September, 2024. Together, they raised a family that became their pride and joy: their children, Mark Powell (Pam) of Greenville, TX; Karen Wiley (Mike) of Marshall, TX; and LeaAnne Fore (Gary) of Kirbyville, TX. The legacy extended to their cherished grandchildren, Jordan Powell (Shawna); Katelyn Saffer (Jonathan); Ellen Fore, Abbie Fore, Luke Fore (Alayna); Molly Fore, Joel Fore, Andy Fore and Betsy Fore as well as nine great-grandchildren. Sue's faith in God and love for her family were unwavering. Her life was dedicated to her family. She was a true "home" maker in every sense of the word who made her house a loving, peaceful home for her family. She was extraordinary at accepting and loving people wherever they were in their life journey and was particularly good at welcoming and loving her in-law sons and daughter (and in-law grandson and daughters) to the point of being a true second Mom to them. She was content wherever she was and awoke to each new day with a positive attitude. She was kind, selfless, and humble. Sue has left a legacy of faith, family and love to her family that is both worthy of pursuing and challenging to match. The family respectfully requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Central Baptist Church in Marshall, Texas or Hospice of East Texas in Tyler, Texas.
