A time of visitation will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2025 at from 10:00 a.m. ~ 11:00 a.m. Lynnda Sue Caddell Stephens was born September 19th, 1948 in Tyler, Texas to Mrs. Lurlean Hooper Caddell and Mr. Horace Caddell, Sr. she passed peacefully from this life April 15, 2025 surrounded by her loving family in Longview, Texas.

Lynnda Sue Caddell Stephens was born on September 19, 1948, in Smith County to Horace Sr. and Lurlean Caddell. Her life was marked with love, selflessness and compassion to all family and friends.

Lynnda's early years were spent blossoming into a kind and spirited young woman. She was a proud graduate of Jackson High School, where she was also nominated Miss Jackson for the class of 1967. Lynnda carried her enthusiasm for learning and growth to Tyler Junior College where she furthered her education.

In 1969, Lynnda wed to the love of her life, Andrew Stephens. However, we all know she called him "Steve". They then moved to Longview, Texas where they had 2 daughters, Shawn and Dawn. She was a member of St. Mark CME, Longview, Texas. Lynnda had many jobs with the first being at Highland Pines nursing home where she worked as an aid, showcasing her caregiving abilities and setting the stage for a lifetime of helping others. Her career eventually led her to the United States Postal Service in Marshall, Texas, where she dedicated 20 years of service before retiring in 2009.

Beyond her professional endeavors, Lynnda's heart was truly revealed through her involvement with various passionate interests. One interest was in 1977 where she held the title "Director" of the Miss Ebony and Miss Black Longview pageant, which was a testament to her commitment to empowering young women in her community. She also found immense joy in planning school reunions which created occasions that brought loved ones together to celebrate and reconnect. She planned many and memorable family reunions. In 2001, after researching many years of her family ancestry she located her family's home plantation and was then able to orchestrate one of her biggest reunions which was held on that plantation. She wrote an article on this celebration, which was published in the Longview News Journal. Lynnda was involved in many organizations such as being the Advisor for the Longview Teens Together Club and a member of the Philos in the 70's.

Perhaps most notably, Lynnda was the proud owner and wedding coordinator of "The Cotillion" starting in 1994, where she directed some of the most beautiful and memorable moments in people's lives. She had an eye for detail and the ability to make every couple feel special.

When it was time for her to settle down she enjoyed nothing more than going to the casino and traveling to visit family and friends. She continued to work on her family genealogy and coloring was her number one afternoon activity. She did all of these things while taking her role as a grandmother very seriously and wore the name "Yah-Yah" as a badge of honor.

After living the life that was given to her by God, Lynnda peacefully entered eternal rest on April 15, 2025. As we bid farewell to Lynnda, let us remember that her departure from this world is not an end but a transition.

She was preceded in death by her parents Horace Sr. and Lurlean Caddell, her brothers Horace Jr., Charles Caddell, and Billy Ray Caddell.

She leaves to cherish her precious memories: her husband Andrew "Steve" Stephens, daughters Shawn (Mia) Stephens and Dawn (Greg) Stephens Jeffery, grand-daughters Ashley and Kennedy Jeffery, her sister Jeri (Adell) Mills, Nacogdoches, Texas, her beloved fur-baby Dylan and many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
