On December 7, 2023, Lula Bell Deason passed into eternal Glory. Her earthly struggles ended when the Lord took her home at the age of 97. Lula was born on October 24, 1926 in Harleton, Texas to Judge and Stella (Perkins) Pope.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Glenn Deason; her brother, Willard Pope; and her sister, Reba Hubbard.
She is survived by her children, Linda Griffith, B. D. Hicks, Kathy Busby and Judy Ratcliff; her grandchildren, Harold Griffith, Jr., Michael Hicks, Lisa Crawford, Crystal Boyer, Michelle Jones, Mark Busby, Stephen Ratcliff, Kimberly Hopkins, and Jeffrey Ratcliff; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and several bonus family members added through various avenues such as marriage, etc.
Lula graduated from Marshall High School and attended one year of college at East Texas Baptist College. She held various jobs including secretarial duties at Imperial Redding, data entry at Nehls Chevrolet and was a talented seamstress. She loved to dance, loved to sew, gardening, do yard work, watch the birds and squirrels, but her true passion was caring for her family and the time she spent with them.
Visitation for Lula will be held on Monday, December 11, 2023 at The Cammack Family Sullivan Funeral Home Chapel from 3:00 P.M. till 5:00 P.M..
She will be interred next to her beloved husband in a private burial. Honorary pallbearers will be her grandsons and grandsons-in-law, Harold J. Griffith, Jr., Michael D. Hicks, Mark R. Busby, Stephen B. Ratcliff, Jeffrey S. Ratcliff, Busby E. Jones and Wes Hopkins.
