Leta (Segedy) Grace received her wings and halo as she entered her eternal Heavenly home on April 16, 2025 where she now rests peacefully in the open loving arms of her Father.
Leta was born May 6, 1934 to parents Mike and Margaret Segedy in El Paso, Texas. She graduated from Granite City (Illinois) High School. On August 15, 1952 she married Lawrence Grace, the one man she would forever love. They were married for almost 36 years prior to his passing in 1986.
She worked in the accounting department at Good Shepherd Hospital for many years until she began her new career as a teacher and assistant director at KandyLand Kampus daycare. One of her greatest joys was being around the children and she loved each one she met. Her greatest happiness was derived from the moments she spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed needlework and embroidered pillowcases for just about everyone. Her favorite pastime was watching her southern gospel DVD's and listening to that music which brought her peace and comfort through her deep Christian faith.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Lawrence Grace, father, Mike Segedy, mother, Margaret Segedy, brother Mike Segedy, Jr and sister Helen Segedy.
Survivors include daughters Diane Shankles of Gladewater , Nancy Hart of Longview and Brenda Guerrero of Granite City, Illinois; sons Larry Grace of Waskom, Jimmy Grace and Calvin Grace of Longview, Gary Grace of Marshall, and a sister, Rose Coleman of Clarksville, Tennessee. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren, all of whom she dearly loved. Her love and presence will be a cherished memory by each.
Services will be held at Welch Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 22, 2025 at 10:00 A.M. A time of visitation will be held prior to services from 9:00A.M. until 10:00AM. Interment will be at Memory Park Cemetery where she will be laid to rest beside her husband.
