Lester Stegall Life Story

Lester Daniel Stegall, known affectionately as Lester by his friends and family, passed away peacefully on June 5, 2025, at the age of 90 in Overton, TX. Born on August 11, 1934, in Marshall, TX, Lester was a man of integrity, humor, and deep love for his family and community.
He was preceded in death by his parents, CD and Lillie Stegall; his sister, Mary Alice Carter; and his brother, Chester Stegall. His memory will be cherished and kept alive by his devoted wife of 67 years, Patsy Ann Stegall; his daughters, Pat Hunt, Pam Lowe, and Jennifer Jackson, and her husband Shane. Lester was a proud grandfather to Ashley Cook, Brittany Pattillo and her husband Kris, and Courtney Roberts and her husband TL; as well as a doting great-grandfather to Tre' Roberts, Gavin Hunt, Lane Templin, Jordan Templin, and Amelia Pattillo.
A 1952 graduate of Marshall High School, Lester was a valued employee at Norit for 38 years, where his dedication and work ethic were unmatched. He also proudly served his country for nine years in the National Guard, demonstrating his commitment to duty and service. His professional life was marked by the same excellence and precision he applied to all his endeavors.
Lester's interests and hobbies were a reflection of his zest for life and his pursuit of perfection. An avid What-A-Burger enthusiast, he made it a point to visit his favorite eatery daily, savoring the flavors and the routine that brought joy into his everyday life. His passion for woodworking was evident in the flawless games and items he crafted, each piece a testament to his meticulous attention to detail. Lester had a love for the outdoors. He spent many weekends camping and fishing on the banks of Little Cypress Creek. He also enjoyed camping and boating on Lake O' Pines where he would spend hours and hours pulling family and friends behind his boat to water ski or tube. If he wasn't using his boat for water activities, then he was out on the lake fishing. Fish he caught were used for family fish fries at his home that were always family fun days. While the fish were frying, family members were in competition amongst each other in the backyard with the horseshoe pit he created for family fun and enjoyment. Notably, Lester's angling skills led to an impressive catch of a shark, earning him a state record and a cherished story that he enjoyed sharing with his grandchildren.
His legacy is one of love, laughter, and the pursuit of excellence. He was a man who built a life as sturdy and beautiful as the wood creations he so lovingly made. His lessons in life, craftsmanship, and the simple pleasures like a good burger will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know him. Lester loved the Lord and was a member of Crossroads Baptist Church with a strong faith for the Lord, his church family and friends. He was very devoted to his family and loved each member unconditionally and would light up when family came to visit and he was able to be around them. He was very proud of all his family members.
As we bid farewell to Lester Daniel Stegall, we celebrate a life well lived and a man well loved. His memory will be treasured in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who were touched by his generous spirit. Lester's journey through life was marked by the joy he found in the everyday, the pride he took in his work, and the love he had for his family. He will be deeply missed, but his legacy will continue to influence and guide us for generations to come.
