Lawana Groth passed away at her home January 1, 2022, after a lengthy illness with her husband and son by her bedside.
Born on August 15, 1955, in Natchitoches, La as Lawana Rae LaCaze to Christine LaCaze and Carroll Ray LaCaze.
Lawana grew up in Natchitoches and graduated from Natchitoches High School in 1973, and attended Northwestern State University where she received her degree and also later was employed there until 1982. After moving to Longview, she was employed by the State as a social worker for 10 years and then resigned due to declining health.
Her hobbies included knitting, cross-stitching, coin and stamp collecting.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Christine LaCaze and Carroll Ray LaCaze; sisters, Edna Cardino of Natchitoches, La; Betty Wallace of Natchitoches, La; and brother, Felix "Sonny LaCaze of Natchitoches, La.
Survivors include her husband of 39 years, Larry Groth of Clarksville City,Tx; her son, Ben Groth and wife, Autumn Groth of Longview, Tx; sister, Nina Kay and husband, Kenneth Kay of Provencal, La; brother-in-law, Carl Groth and wife, Jean Groth of Port Townsend, Wa; sister-in-law, Martha LaCaze of Natchitoches, La; numerous nieces and nephews.
A small graveside service will be held at a later date.
