Kenneth Mattheyer Life Story

Kenneth Lee Mattheyer, Sr., better known as "Papa GooGoo", a name given to him by his oldest granddaughter, Kari Ann, was the most loving, supportive and generous father, papa, great-papa, great-great-papa in every area of his life.

He had many hobbies, collecting coins, stamps, putting together photo albums, and raising a garden were some of his favorites. Kenneth was drafted by the Army out of high school and served in the U. S. Army in the Pacific. He loved working. He worked in the oil field for 40 years, working all positions from the ground to the crown and beyond. After the oilfield, he started KLM Services, servicing and maintaining swimming pools and spas for over 20 years, until his retirement to take care of his wife, Betty. He was active in attending as many functions he could supporting his great-grandchildren. Papa enjoyed it when Richard took him on long rides, fishing and going out to eat. He also enjoyed all the long telephone talks with Richard, Andrew and others. He often called Richard his "Number One Helper". He loved sharing wisdom with his children, grands and greats. He was THE Papa of all Papas and we are so thankful to have loved him for 97 years. He will be greatly missed.

Kenneth is preceded in death by his wife, Betty Mattheyer; his parents, Frank and Faye Mattheyer; his grandson, Wilson Byrd; sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Dennis Rackley; son-in-law, Billy Jack Byrd, Jr. and his great-great-granddaughter, Kenlee Busbey.
