Kay Pruett Life Story

Kay Sue Parker Pruett, cherished matriarch and lifelong resident of Texas, passed away peacefully in Longview on September 5, 2024, at the age of 98. Born on December 3, 1925, in Marshall, Texas, Kay was the youngest of eight children of Thomas Hardy Parker and Susannah Elizabeth Parker. Her vibrant spirit and loving presence will be profoundly missed by all who knew her. Affectionately known as Kay to her friends and family, she was a beacon of joy and the heart of her family. Kay was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Les Pruett, with whom she shared many years of devotion and love, and by her four brothers and three sisters. Her legacy continues through her devoted daughter, Kay B. Moseley and her husband, Sam, and her son, Kevin Blackmon. She was "Memother" to her grandchildren, Madison Moseley and his wife, Cami, Karis Moseley, and Kimberly Blackmon as well as her cherished great- grandchildren, Hallie, Ben, Skylar, Arlena, and Odin. She also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews, each of whom held a special place in her heart. Kay's life was a testament to the enduring strength and unconditional love of a homemaker, wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Her true passion was her family around whom she built an unwavering foundation of support, kindness, and cherished memories. Kay's nurturing spirit was evident in every aspect of her life; she was the cornerstone that kept her family grounded and connected through the years. An adventurous soul, Kay loved to travel, which she often did with the "Dirty Dozen," a group of six couples who were not just friends but an extended family. Together they traversed the globe, creating a tapestry of unforgettable experiences. Kay's zest for life was infectious, and she approached every journey with enthusiasm and a sense of wonder. Kay's interests were many and varied, but what she enjoyed most was spending time with her family and friends. She was an avid game player who relished a friendly yet competitive game of Canasta. In fact, she enjoyed playing just two weeks before her passing, a testament to her enduring spirit and love for shared moments of joy. Her love for dance was profound and obvious to all and she found great happiness in skate-dancing, a unique blend of her two favorite pastimes. Family gatherings were especially dear to Kay, and she never missed an opportunity to host or share a meal with her loved ones. These occasions were more than just times to eat; they were moments filled with laughter, stories, and the creation of memories that would last a lifetime. Her presence at the head of the table was a comforting constant, and her absence will be deeply felt. Kay's unwavering faith and love for her family have left an indelible mark on the hearts of those she touched. For close to a century, Kay's life was a beautiful example of love in action. Her memory is cherished and celebrated as a blessing to all who knew her. As we say our final farewell to Kay Sue Pruett, we do so with gratitude for the many years of love, laughter, and guidance she bestowed upon us. Her spirit will continue to inspire and guide us. Kay's life was a journey of love, and it is with love that we release her to her eternal rest.
