Juanita Fowler lived on this earth for 97 years and is now spending eternity with her Heavenly Father and many loved ones who love Him, too.
Juanita Elliott Fowler was born on April 5, 1927 to Monroe and Flossie Elliott of Hagansport, Texas. She grew up on the family farm and when she finished high school at 17 she ventured to Fort Worth, Texas to make a life for herself there. She worked at Montgomery Wards for a time and then at Southwestern Bell telephone company as an operator. Later she met and married Jack Fowler, following him around the world - Japan, Missouri, Arkansas, and Germany - as he served our country in the U. S. Army. In each place, she made a home for her family which eventually included their son Rodney and daughter Cindy. When Jack retired from the Army and became a pastor, Juanita took on the role of a pastor's wife.
Juanita enjoyed taking care of her yard and growing flowers. She loved to make simple, yet beautiful bouquets with roses, gladiolas, gardenias and other flowers to share with her neighbors and friends. Some will recall her bringing flowers at Easter time to Central Baptist Church to decorate the cross. Juanita sewed, knitted and quilted, but her favorite hobby was crocheting flower afghans which she did for each of her family members and some special friends as well.
She was predeceased by her parents, older brother Lloyd Elliott, and younger sister Ruth Elliott Ottinger and Jack Fowler, her husband of 53 years. She is survived by her son Rodney Lloyd Fowler, daughter Cindy Fowler Larkin, and seven grandchildren: Joshua Larkin, Jeremiah Larkin, Timothy Larkin II, Laura Fowler, Mary Larkin Melvin, Michael Fowler and Jonathan Larkin. Juanita was also blessed with seven great grandchildren: Cora Larkin, Lucy Larkin, Olivia Zimmerman, Sydney Zimmerman, Odin Melvin, Alyssa Fowler, Morgan Larkin, Vera Melvin and Haddon Fowler.
There will be a viewing at the Cammack Family Sullivan Funeral Home in Marshall, Texas from 6:00 to 8:00pm on Friday, January 3, 2025. Juanita's Funeral service will be held on January 4, 2025 at 10:00am at Central Baptist Church of Marshall, Texas, followed by a brief graveside service at Colonial Gardens Cemetery.
