Joe Edward Nash, Sr

Joe Edward Nash, Sr. passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family at 10:15pm Tuesday, September 5, 2023 in Longview, Texas. Coincidentally, 10/15 was also his birth date. He was born on October 15, 1952 in Tulsa, OKlahoma to James T. and Frances Jean (Harrell) Nash. He is preceded in death by his parents, James T. and Frances Jean Nash; his granddaughter, Colby Nash Vernon; his grandmother, Mama Lola; his brothers and sister, Petesy Nash, Billy Nash, Kathy and Larry Starr; his parents-in-law, Bill and Betty White; his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Becky and Jimmy Fyffe along with numerous other family members. He is survived by his wife of almost 50 years, Bonnie Beth (White) Nash; his children, Jennifer and Craig Brown, Robin Nash, Joey and Julie Nash; his grandchildren, Garrett and Bri Brown, Nathan Matelski, Baylee Brown, Kennedy Brown, Molly Matelski, Chas, Gunner and John Cannon "Carter" Chaler; his great-grandchildren, Gracelynn Brown and Conner Nash Matelski; his sisters, Janet and Mike Morton and Debbie Gaby; his aunt, Judy Harrell; his sisters-in-law, Margaret Lang and Betty Nash; his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Buz and Janice White; his beloved four-legged fur-babies, Jasmine, CJ, Shadow and Bullet and many nieces, nephews and cousins whom he adored. Joe worked at Alcoa in Marshall until the business closed and then went to work to be the best truck driver ever for the next 36 years. Joe had a larger than life personality and never met a stranger. His sense of direction from being a truck driver nation wide was incredible. No matter where you were, he knew the landmarks and directions and the best places to tour or visit. He was the most selfless person, always available at any time, day or night to help those who had a need. He loved to cook and his "trash" at Christmas was world famous. He loved his Lord, garage sales, flea markets, and a real deal he could pull off. He loved a party, had the most contagious laugh, loved his "Nash Bash", the Oklahoma Sooners and a "Double-Double", but his true passion in life was his family and the time he spent with them. He gave wise words of wisdom to his children..."whatever your mama wants' and "be nice to your mama". Bonnie was his best friend, his forever girlfriend, his soulmate and the love of his life. Joe will be deeply missed by all those who were blessed by his love and life. A celebration of Joe's life will be held on Saturday, September 9, 2023 at the Marshall Elks Lodge at 2:00pm. The family will welcome your gifts of flowers or a contribution in Joe's memory to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, the Marshall Humane Society or to Summit Methodist church.
