Jimmy Ray Greer, also known as Jim, and lovingly known as "Papa" to his grandsons, passed away peacefully on January 11, 2026, in McKinney, Texas, due to complications from Frontal Temporal Dementia. Born on September 21, 1953, in Pasadena, Texas, Jim's journey through life was marked by love, laughter, and an unwavering commitment to his family and friends.
Jim was the son of the late Junius and Patsy Greer of Hallsville, Texas. He was also preceded in death by his brother Danny Greer and his beloved son Jeffrey Ryan Greer. Jim's memory is cherished by his devoted wife of 52 years, Judy Kornegay Greer, his daughter Ashley Ann Greer, and his daughter Angela Greer Goodwell, along with her husband Jason Goodwell. His legacy continues through his grandsons, Jake Nicholas Goodwell and Adam James Goodwell. Jim's brother-in-law, Mike Kornegay, also remains to honor his memory.
A proud Hallsville High School Bobcat, class of 1972, Jim's formative years were filled with academic achievements and lifelong friendships. His professional life was dedicated to the chemical admixture industry, where he retired as Strategic Key Accounts for Sika in 2022. Jim's colleagues respected him for his work ethic, innovative ideas, and his ability to forge strong relationships.
Jim's passion for life was evident in his personal interests. An avid golfer, he spent many a day on the greens, perfecting his swing and enjoying the camaraderie of fellow golfers. His love for the Dallas Cowboys and the Texas Longhorns was more than just a pastime; it was a testament to his loyalty and spirited nature. Jim's generosity, humor, and kindness were the hallmarks of his character, leaving an indelible impression on all who knew him.
In the words of Ralph Waldo Emerson, "To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children... to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded." By Emerson's standards, Jim's life was a resounding success. His laughter was contagious, his presence comforting, and his generosity knew no bounds.
Jim's life story is not just about the milestones he reached or the challenges he overcame; it's also about the countless lives he touched with his humor and compassion. As we bid farewell to Jim, we celebrate a life well-lived, a journey well-traveled, and a man well-loved. His spirit will forever resonate in the hearts of those fortunate enough to have known him. Jim Greer will be deeply missed, but his legacy of love and laughter will continue to inspire those he left behind.
