Jimmie Dupuy Bailey Jimi was born March 11, 1938 and passed away quietly at home on November 29, 2018. She is survived by her son Mike Bailey and wife Elizabeth of Longview, TX, her daughter Jill Kleppe and husband Rob of Heber Springs, AR, her grandchildren, Amber Morton and husband Brian of Longview, Rebecca Bailey of Denver Co, Allen Edwards of Hot Springs, AR, and Michelle Bailey of Irving, TX; her great grandsons Macsen and Levi Morton of Longview; her sister Anne Barron of Pearland, TX and many friends and loved ones who will miss her big smiles, words of encouragement and inspiration, and all that quirkiness that made her special. The family would like to recognize her special friends, Regina and Ruth, fellow cloggers, who visited her often and brought joy to her life.
Mrs. Bailey was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 52 years, Coy, her mother, Walterine Dupuy Satterwhite, her father James E. Dupuy, her brother Kenneth L. Dupuy, and her grandson, Evan Lee Edwards
After a fun and love filled childhood, she married the love of her life Coy Bailey on June 10, 1956 and lived her remaining years in Longview where she raised her children, worked for several banks, and then with Coy owned and operated Baileys in Daingerfield. Jimmie loved her grandchildren and was always taking them with her whether it be travelling with Papa and Myrrh or just a shopping adventure to a resale shop. Jimmie loved to cook, sing, sew, and entertain. She was a volunteer at area hospitals. She especially loved delivering flowers to patients. She was a good listener and often provided wise counsel to others.
She loved the mountains of Arkansas and there she found her real passion in life - clogging. Starting as a beginner, she progressed and eventually founded the Down Home Cloggers. She loved to teach clogging, and write new dances for her groups… She travelled to many places to clog but especially loved to perform at nursing homes, hospitals, and every Christmas parade in the area. There was always a smile on her face and a song in her heart. Mom loved to entertain and make a difference in the lives of others.
She will be missed, but since suffering from dementia complicated by a stroke the last four years were very challenging for her. The family would like to give special thanks to the “angels” of C & R Attentive Services who have been by our side throughout Mom’s illness. Each of these women have been a blessing to mom and have made our lives easier. We love each of you and know that mom did too.
Visitation will be from 2 – 4 pm on Sunday, December 2 at Welch Funeral Home and a celebration of her life and her homecoming will be held in the Memorial Garden of the funeral home at 10 am on Monday, December 3. We will live cherishing the memories of love and grace that she left us with and are thrilled that she is now clogging in heaven without pain. It is certain that she is driving “Papa” crazy by now…
