Jessie Paul Duck (80) of Marshall, Texas passed away at The Carpenter House Hospice in Shreveport on January 24, 2025. Mr. Duck was born December 18,1944 to Archie and Birdie Mae Duck in Nacogdoches Texas and was graduated from Marshall High School. A December by trade, Mr. Duck worked at supermarkets including Safeway, Abrahams, Winn Dixie, and Kroger until his retirement. Mr. Duck was an avid reader and, in his younger years, enjoyed fishing. In early 2024, however, Mr. Duck experienced a sudden decline in health following a severe infection and a stroke. After a long battle, he left this life to join his wife of forty-nine years, Marsha Ann Thornton Duck, his parents, and his sisters Shirley Long and Anja Audish. He is survived by his son, Stephen Paul Duck, daughter-in-law Shanna, and granddaughter Sarah Ann Duck; siblings Billy Duck, Jacque and Lydia Duck, Bob and Joan Duck, and Ramona Ellen Metts; and close in-laws including the Harry Thornton family and Vickie Thornton (widow of Bob Thornton), as well as friends and former coworkers. Mr. Duck's service will be held at The Cammack Family-Sullivan Funeral Home in Marshall, Texas on Saturday, February 1, 2025 at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to One Simple Wish, an online charity providing gifts for foster children, or to The Pet Place (Harrison County Humane Society) in Marshall, Tx. The family wishes to thank Pine Tree Lodge and Magnolia Place Nursing Homes; Caldwell Memorial Hospital Rehab in Columbia, Louisiana; and Willis Knighton Pierremont ICU Department and The Carpenter's House/St. Joseph Hospice both in Shreveport, Louisiana.
