Jerry Tex Havner Sr., passed away peacefully after a prolonged illness on November 30, 2024, at the age of 84, in Longview, Texas. Born on August 27, 1940, in Coleman, Texas, Jerry lived a life marked by humor and an exceptional knack for fixing anything. His interests were as practical as they were pleasurable, Jerry enjoyed fishing, working on cars, listening to music, and reading his bible. Jerry was funny, friendly, and incredibly handy.
Preceding him in death are his parents, Burl and Lula Havner, his wife Beverly Havner, and siblings Wilburn Havner, Connie Havner, and Sue Cass.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Marta Havner of Longview, Texas, with whom he shared many cherished moments. He is also survived by his sister Patsy Farmer, and her husband, Jackie, of Shallowater, Texas. He was a proud father to his children, Tammy Willeford and her husband Chuck of Diana, Texas, Gene Orr and his wife, Laura of Colleyville, Texas, Yvonne George of Roanoke, Texas, Jerry Tex Havner Jr. and his wife, Shannon of Belfair, Washington, and Sherry Hester of Galveston, Texas all who survive him. His legacy continues through his 10 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 5th, 2024 in the chapel of Welch Funeral Home. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation one hour prior to the service.
Jerry leaves behind a rich tapestry of memories and stories. His passing leaves a void in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. Jerry's life was a testament to the joy that comes from loving connections and the satisfaction of a life well-lived.
