Jeanie Bird Life Story

Jeanie Dianne Bird, affectionately known as "Deedie" to her friends and family, passed away on February 19, 2024, in Marshall, Texas. Born on October 10, 1956, in Baytown, Texas, to her loving parents, Daniel Dannelley and Dell McMeans, Deedie's spirited and loving nature was evident from an early age.

Deedie was the beloved ringmaster of her own delightful circus, with a cast that included her husband, Brad Collier, her children, Stacey Nickerson, Corey Bird, Kristen Bird, Rusty Collier, Mallory Collier, and Jesse Collier, and her cherished grandchildren, Danielle Bray, Jonathon Bray, Breann Simmons, Chris Simmons, Kaylee Santone, Hunter Santone, Cannon Bird, Sarah Bird, Leah Nickerson, Taryn Nickerson, followed by her great-grandchildren Parker Carrasco, Barrett Bray, Alice Kate Bray, Khloe Santone, and Rosie Bird. She had many cousins, close friends and loved ones that she cared for deeply.

She was a proud graduate of Channelview High School in 1975, where she formed friendships and memories that she cherished throughout her life. She spent a remarkable 25 years at Blue Cross & Blue Shield, where her colleagues became a second family, and her laughter became a staple that probably should have been covered by insurance.

Throughout her life, Deedie's interests painted the picture of a woman who cherished life's simple pleasures. Her dog, Shipley was her pride and joy. They enjoyed many cups of coffee in the early mornings and late evenings unwinding from a long day together on the back porch. She had a passion for weekend getaways, running away to the bottoms in Bradley and the soothing ambiance of the beach. Deedie's love for gathering with friends around a warm fire was matched only by her joy in starting crafts-though she would often laugh about not finishing them. She enjoyed cooking for holidays and her beloved pipeline family. Her festive spirit shone through in her enthusiastic holiday decorations that had to be just right, especially at Christmas time. Above all, Deedie's heart was happiest when surrounded by her friends and family.

Jeanie "Deedie" Bird was preceded in death by her parents, Daniel Dannelley and Dell McMeans, her brother Danny Dannelley, and her granddaughter Taryn Nickerson. Her legacy of love and her zest for life will continue to be celebrated by those she leaves behind.

"One of the best things about Heaven, is that we will reunite with loved ones who have already passed on. It will be the greatest family reunion we've ever known with our loved ones all together, in one place, at the same time, rejoicing together at last"

Here's to Deedie, a woman who taught us all to live with a little more sparkle, a lot more laughter and to always remember to dance.
