Janie Faye Rogers, known affectionately as Janie to her friends and family, passed away peacefully of natural causes on May 17, 2024, in her hometown of Longview, Texas. She was born on September 4, 1942, in the same warm and welcoming city, to parents Wesley and Mryl Narmore, both of whom preceded her in death. Janie's loving husband, John Rogers, her sister Josie Barnes, and sister-in-law Norma Atkinson also preceded her in death.
Janie's life was one marked by dedication and love. She graduated from Longview High School, where she formed friendships and values that would last her a lifetime. Her commitment to her community was evident through her remarkable 42.5 years of service at the local Thrift Store for the Salvation Army. Janie's work ethic and compassionate nature made her a beloved figure both at the store and within the broader community.
Beyond her professional life, Janie found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She was an avid bowler, a fan of game shows and soap operas, and above all, she cherished the time spent with her family. Janie's presence at family gatherings was a source of comfort and joy, and her wisdom was sought after by all who knew her.
Janie's legacy is carried on by her loving family. She leaves behind her brother-in-law Calvin Atkinson, her son Kenneth Monk, and her cherished grandchildren, Miranda Watkins and Jonathan Monk. Her nieces and nephews-Teresa and Kendall Vader, Laurie and Donald Ramsey, Wesley Richey, Bea and Bryan Bowman-will fondly remember their Aunt Janie for her loving guidance and interesting stories. Additionally, Janie was a proud great-grandmother to Tristan, Shayla, Laci, Skye, and Jace. Her great nieces and nephews Nicole, Wendy, Kimberly, Wesley, Blake, numerous cousins, friends, and former co-workers also mourn the loss of such an extraordinary individual.
Those who knew Janie would describe her as loving, interesting, and wise. Her advice was often sought after, and her kindness was felt by everyone she met. Janie's presence was a blessing to her family and community, and her memory will be treasured forever.
Janie's life was a testament to the power of love and commitment. She showed us how to live a life full of passion and dedication, and her influence will continue to be felt by those who were fortunate enough to have known her. Janie Faye Rogers will be deeply missed, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of her family and the countless lives she touched.
